The Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network – North Carolina (FRSAN-NC) is working to remove the stigma surrounding mental health and to reduce the risk of suicide in farming and ranching communities.
The trainings below are offered for free in-person or virtually.

Trainings Offered
Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) (1.5 hours)
QPR is a virtual training designed to teach participants how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. This training equips individuals with essential life-saving skills and provides a certification upon completion.
Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) (1.5 hours)
CALM is a virtual training focused on reducing access to lethal means for individuals at risk of suicide. Participants will learn how to have effective conversations about limiting access to dangerous methods in a compassionate and supportive manner.
Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Blended (8 hours)
This blended course includes 6 hours of live virtual instruction and 2 hours of pre-work. Adult MHFA teaches participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in adults. Certification is provided upon completion.
safeTALK (4 hours)
safeTALK is a half-day in-person workshop designed to prepare individuals to become suicide-alert helpers. Participants will learn how to recognize signs, engage with someone in crisis, and connect them to intervention resources.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) (2 days)
ASIST is an in-person, two-day workshop that equips participants with the skills to provide suicide first aid. The training focuses on how to recognize when someone is at risk, intervene, and develop a safety plan to ensure their safety.
