Farmer Stress Resource Directory
The Farmer Stress Resource Directory serves as a vital resource for farmers, farmworkers, fishermen, loggers, their families, and agricultural organizations seeking support for stress and behavioral health challenges.
This directory connects individuals with essential resources to promote mental well-being and offers clear guidance on how to access these services.
This directory was developed by the North Carolina Agromedicine Institute in collaboration with North Carolina Cooperative Extension, with generous support for graphics and printing provided by North Carolina Farm Credit.
Tips for Finding a Counselor or Other Behavioral Health Services
- Ask your primary care physician for assistance.
- If you have healthcare insurance, contact your insurance carrier to determine which behavioral healthcare providers are covered by your plan.
- If you have off-farm employment, check to see if your employer’s benefit package includes an Employee Assistance Program.
If you don’t have health insurance, counseling/therapy services are available to farmers, ranchers, farmworkers, their family members, and others in the agricultural community thanks to support from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission and North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (US Department of Agriculture).
To receive help with the cost of services, contact the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network by email at info@ncfarmstress.org or by phone at 1-844-325-3276 or 252-744-1008.
